[RE] Roleplay Recap: Week 5

Gospel

The Cleric of Thaliak was visited this week by Zerey Zeyad as he continues his search for allies and supporters in his fight against his clan’s oppressors. Expecting resistance from the former paladin, Zerey prepared himself to a long lecture, but got something else entirely. When he told Gospel of his plans, the former Maelstrom Tactician put her analytical mind to work, outlining a battleplan for Zerey in order to weaken the enemy clan, the Masaki. She gave him a plethora of ideas on how to sully their reputation among the other clans, breaking off any potential allies out of shame and dishonor.

True to form, Gospel gave him her unwavering support. She was a creature of war, a career soldier. She also knew there would be no convincing Zerey to back down. She knew how important this was to him, to his brother, Suno, so she resolved in an instant to help him no matter the cost. She also planned to send herself as an emissary to all of the allies she’d garnered over the years, requesting their aid in this fight against the Masaki. She only hoped that she would be able to gather enough support in time.

She was proud, though, to see the young man Zerey was growing into. When the Doman said that he loved her — like a sister, mind you — she was both pleased and surprised. It wasn’t often he expressed himself in such “mushy” words, but she knew in her heart that he meant them. He and Valeria were beloved of the cleric and like family to her, so it was a feeling she returned in kind.

Katja

After an explosive argument with Valeria and Zerey last week at the Vanguard’s Tap & Gambit Tavern and the subsequent follow-up with T’Shira, Katja spent some time on her own. However, someone eventually wanted to talk to her about what had gone on, namely in the form of one Tetra Vinn, a Highlander warrior in the Vanguard’s employ.

Tetra’s affable nature was always a welcome thing to Katja, she found the hyur’s humor infectious. Most of the time. On this particular day, though, Tetra provided a much-needed outlet for feelings that Katja had been keeping from her closest friends, out of fear of being judged by them or angering them. She told Tetra of her desire to not be part of Zerey’s conflict, out of fear of her own death. She had far too much to live for, far too much she wanted to live for. As much as she wanted to support Valeria and help her friend, there were limits to every friendship. And Katja’s limit was the anticipation of a no-win scenario that would result in her own demise.

She voiced concerns with Tetra about being judged by her friends; that her unwillingness to put her life on the line would upset or anger them. T’Shira expected her to help Valeria without hesitation, no doubt Valeria was counting on her help. The little firecatte was stuck between a Rock and a Hard Place. However, Tetra reassured her that she could survive her friends being angry, that they’d get over it in time, if they were any kind of friends. What she couldn’t survive was being dead. And on that note, Katja could only begrudgingly agree.

She promised Tetra that she wouldn’t join in on the hare-brained scheme to battle Zerey’s familial enemy, but not before the Highlander sent her off with a bag full of day-old pastries and the promise of her own to check up on the miqo’te later.

Tetra gives Katja a much-needed venting space.

Lafiel

Our resident elezen minstrel spent time with various friends this week, but none more than Koh’li Nbolo. They spoke of various plans they had in the works, primarily their concerns over matters with Zerey. Yet, it wasn’t all serious news. Koh’li shared with Lafiel that he had been gifted a house in Gridania by the Adders for his many years of service. Granted, the place was in sad disrepair, so it would need a fair bit of love and care before it would be habitable. To this end, Koh’li asked for Lafiel’s help in renovating it to which she readily agreed, always willing to help the faithful gunbreaker whenever he had need.

She also had opportunity to speak briefly with Mesa Kha about matters that seemed to be bothering the xaela, but Lafiel didn’t feel like she made much headway. Seeing her so distressed led Koh’li to worry that she was spreading herself too thin, trying to help friends through troubles that Lafiel truly couldn’t help them through. Still, he was her aegis and he would safeguard her heart and her being with everything in him.

It was then that Lafiel realized how much she was taking Koh’li for granted, assuming that he would help the others she offered aid to without question. She’d never stopped to ask the gunbreaker, a fact that she was very upset with herself over, so she apologized to him profusely. Unused to such apologies from the women in his life, Koh’li was momentarily surprised, but such consideration also further endeared the elezen to his heart.

He spoke of the renovations to his home as something he hoped she would enjoy as well, to which Lafiel made the jest that if he was going to look at it that way, then it might as well be their home together, rather than simply his. It earned Lafiel Koh’li’s characteristic blush, but the gunbreaker sheepishly agreed. As they made their way to the Silver Bazaar, Koh’li resolved to find her a housewarming gift worthy of her efforts and all the time he’d spent with her thusfar.

That’s it for this week! I hope you’ve enjoyed this excerpt from this week’s roleplay scenarios. We’ll be back again next week with more melodramatic action. Stay tuned, catte-fans! ♥
