Aultena Sephimiri

Aultena Sephimiri

Early Years

Aultena was born to Maora and Rhaza Sephimiri in the hunter-town of Tailfeather in 1547 where they lived contentedly for a number of years. From them, Aultena learned everything she knows when it comes to hunting, outdoor survival and tracking. She was very much a Child of the Wilds, so she tended to be a bit unruly and a Law Unto Herself. Still, she was much loved by her parents. Even though her mother was strict about her training as a huntress, her father more than made up for it with his benevolent good humor.

At the tender age of twelve, Aultena’s parents went out on a hunt that was supposed to be “challenging” but ultimately nothing they couldn’t handle. It was against a horrific monstrosity known as The Saurotaun. It not only killed the Sephimiris, but it killed the entire eight-man hunting party that they’d gone with. There were stories among the Centurio and other Hunter clans that letters arrived home some time afterward from those that had been slain, telling of their impending doom. Some spoke of it with pride, as if they’d hunt the beast successfully; others spoke with uncertainty, as if they weren’t sure what Fate had in store for them.

Aultena, however, was devastated. Her parents had left instruction for her to fall into the guardianship of their best friend, Sillesti Abriel, her godfather. It was a rough time growing up for headstrong and willful Aultena. She defied Sillesti more often than not, making their relationship strained and distant at best.

The Shadow of the Hunt

Needless to say, she ended up being raised within the Shadow of the Hunt, because it’s all she knew and what she excelled at. She spent as much time as she could away from Tailfeather and her godfather, both of them instigating painful, beloved memories of her parents. The young miqo’te threw herself into a hunt for revenge, determined to find the beast that felled her parents. For years, she would search — and for years it would be in vain.

Present Years

Aultena tried for much of her life to find the Saurotaun, but to no avail. The closest she ever came was battling one of the Saurotaun’s fledglings with her friends. It was seeing her friends nearly killed in that encounter that drove home the lesson that there were more important things in her life now than revenge. She didn’t want to see her new found family harmed on her account, so she abandoned the Hunt.

In an effort to take the Huntress out of the moon-catte, Aultena decided to open up an inn with her frenemy-turned-lover, Edgard Beaumont — they named it the Stars’ Rest. However, as time wore on, Aultena became restless and the call to rejoin the Hunt tugged at her more and more, especially since she was training Edgard to join her. Eventually, the pair left the inn with good, trusted hands and staff and struck out into the wider world to do what they did best. Hunt together.

Tailfeather Resident or Frequent Visitor

Those who spent a lengthy amount of time in the hunter-town are likely to know Aultena and her godfather, Sillesti. The moon-catte is known to have a fiery temper, but also as a reliable and skilled huntress — if a bit too focused on the Hunt at times.

Centurio Hunters

Hunters that are part of the Centurio or other Hunting Societies around the world are likely to know Aultena, if not directly then in a tertiary sense, at the very least by her reputation as a skilled and dedicated hunter. It’s something of a curiosity that of late the typically lone-wolf huntress has taken up a partner in the form of an idiot dragoon out of Ishgard.

Recently Healed

Aultena, as a newly-fledged Astrologian, has offered her healing abilities a number of times at no charge. Perhaps you were one of her patients?

World Traveler

Given her chosen profession, Aultena has cause to travel all over the world. So, folk from far of Thavnair, Dalmasca, or anywhere else are welcome to have seen or heard about Aultena in passing. The striking blue huntress is well-known in hunting circles.

Edgard BeaumontEdgard Eugene Beaumont
Husband & Idiot

Aultena voluntarily married this Ishgardian elezen after getting to know him. While he’s rather socially inept, she finds that much of the time it’s a facade he puts on to keep people from getting too close. She knows better and finds that there’s much both to love and enjoy about the silly dragoon-turned-adventurer.

Brother & Fellow Hunter
Besheke is one of Aultena’s favorite people. Gruff to the point of being monosyllabic at times, she finds it takes getting him outdoors to bring him out into the open. Once done, he’s open-hearted and generous, though seemingly tortured by his past.  She loves the miqo’te like family and would do just about anything for him.
