“Mix two teaspoons of neem oil…” Careful hands used the eye dropper to dispense the ochre-colored liquid into the vial; it reeked a lot like garlic, with a hint of nuttiness and a bit of mustard. The miqo’te’s nose twitched in reaction. Setting aside the dropper, she held onto the vial as she read the next line of instructions from the parchment nearby.

Fufulcha was kind enough to give her the recipe for this all-natural insecticide so she could keep the bugs out of her garden, she only hoped that it worked as well as the lalafellin botanist claimed. Being the Guildmaster, Katja figured the knowledge was reliable. “Add one teaspoon of mild soap…” She took a spoonful of liquified lye, adding it to the vial. There was no fantastical alchemical reaction like she so often saw in the Alchemist’s Guild. She supposed that was a good thing, explosive or corrosive material wouldn’t have been good for her plants.

“Shake thoroughly with one quart of water, then spray on plants.” She reads, nodding as she poured the vial into a pre-drawn bucket of water. “All right, here we go…”

The solution swirled for a moment, the golden liquid dispersing in the water with that oily, rainbow bubble sheen before she covered the bucket with a lid and gave it a vigorous series of shakes. When she opened it, of course it was full of bubbles. Pulling a funnel and a small spray bottle from the workshed shelves, she used the former to pour the bubbly liquid into the latter. Once filled, she eyes it for a moment.

“Please, don’t kill my plants.” She says, crossing the yard to the vegetable garden and spraying down the budding plants with a slight grimace.

Only time would tell if the solution worked and the bugs were driven off, but she had faith in Fufulcha’s knowledge and experience. All she had to do was be patient. That alone was often a challenge for the miqo’te.
