Roleplay Recap: Week 25

Gospel

It was a social week for our resident paladin-turned-sage as Gospel spent a fair bit of time in the city of Ul’dah. After a chance encounter with the young viera warden, Fiver Waterdown, Gospel found that she had a new goal. In speaking with Fiver, she recalled that the young boy had been exiled from his home and his tribe in Golmore. However, with all of the tumult of the Final Days, poor Fiver was naturally worried about his family and their fate. She told Fiver of a number of sooth-sayers or tarot-readers that often set up shop around the city or at various venues throughout Eorzea; the thought excited and invigorated the young buck.

Unable to disappoint the hareling, Gospel took it upon herself to scour the city for these fortune-tellers, but none of the ones she was familiar with seemed to be lurking in their usual haunts. She eventually turned to one Mesa Kha, the little xaela well-connected with anyone that was worth knowing in the desert city. The bard directed her to a raen named Rakuyo, who wore a straw hat and primarily blue in his wardrobe, but in the days that followed Gospel saw no sign of the man. Her search continued unabated.

During one of her forays around the city, as she read by the fountain to relax somewhat, the young miqo’te Y’naiya Rahz came upon her. The pair of them spent a few bells discussing the nature of friendship and the value of it, the boons and banes that come from such close connections or lack thereof. Toward the end of their conversation, a rancid individual interrupted them and attempted to insult and degrade Gospel for reasons that only the Twelve might ever comprehend. Gospel’s reputation in the Gold Court spoke for itself when several others, including Naiya herself, spoke up on the cleric’s behalf. Given that this individual was one of Naiya’s purported “friends”, Gospel left them to visit rather than allow Naiya to continue on in such an uncomfortable situation.

Among her saviors was an unknown Dark Knight who later introduced himself as one, Ser Yumarox Revanche. He was a curious man with seemingly more gil than sense, a reputation that afforded him both notoriety and deference, and a word that seemed clad in steel. Some manner of royalty or nobility, she imagined, though she knew of few Duskwights that held such privilege. The Dzemaels in Ishgard, perhaps, but Gospel could think of no others off-hand. The man had a curiously keen intellect, though the depths to which he conspired against the woman that opted to insult Gospel’s character bordered on vaguely questionable for what was little more than a minor inconvenience to the cleric. One woman’s psychotically-born opinions of her mattered very little in the grand scheme of things. She spoke with the knight for a number of bells afterward before they parted ways.

A day or two later, she found Yumarox down on the Bloodsands, the knight having just been witness to some manner of attack on the grounds. A construct of some type had attacked some of the combatants, infesting them with Astral-aspected aether. Gospel offered what help she could to the injured, but most of them had either wandered off or been tended by the time she arrived. As things died down, she was invited to a conversation between Yumarox and some of the others that had been on-hand to witness the attack. Some manner of counter or defense was being mounted and they presumably were going to share what they knew about this entity — Cain — and how best to deal with it should it return. While she could offer no insights to the creature itself, she shared what she knew about voidsent and necromantic creatures, in general, to say nothing of her keen mind as a tactician. It was difficult to tell if any of what she provided was useful, but it was her nature to help where she could, regardless.

This week was very Gospel-centric, but that’s never a bad thing! As always I appreciate those of you who spend your time with me either providing the roleplay herein, or taking the time to read through these blog posts to live vicariously through my adventures. Either way, I’m glad to have you here and there’s always more on the horizon! Comments, kudos, and tips in the tip jar are always welcome!

Until path and friend meet again…
