[RE] Roleplay Recap: Week 6

Lafiel

This week opened up with Lafiel having an encounter with Mesa Kha that involved the xaela huntress finally admitting that she had feelings for the elezen and that seeing Lafiel with Koh’li Nbolo bothered her because of it. Mesa’s feelings were unexpected by the songstress, but the fact that it upset and hurt Mesa wounded her greatly. Still, Lafiel staunchly refused to apologize because her relationship with Koh’li would never be something she regretted. Damage done, Lafiel quit the Court for the evening, not only for herself, but for Koh’li who had been on-hand to hear it all as well. The miqo’te was angry for how upset the situation had made Lafiel, but thankfully the elezen had something that would prove a suitable and welcome distraction for them both: their new home.

The clever elezen had taken great pains to ensure that the house was a reflection of them both, a place both of them could find safe haven against the world and its woes. A home for them both, after many years of wandering on each of their parts. It held homage to Koh’li’s time with the Adders; the elezen having charmed a Captain into entrusting her with Koh’li’s old Serpents’ gear. It held several places where Lafiel herself could practice and compose her music. The rooms were light, airy and filled with plants and water fixtures enough to make it feel like the outdoors.

For his own part, Koh’li was both pleased and astonished at the amount of care and consideration Lafiel had put into her assignment to remodel the house. He’d expected her to do a fine job of it, and told her so in his usual, terse way, but he never anticipated how much it would move him for her to do so. By the end of it, he was so grateful to her for all that she’d done that he had no more words to give her. Only actions. And those began with a kiss.

Later in the week, Koh’li and Lafiel went onward to Kugane to help Zerey Zeyad in his ongoing fight against the crime syndicate that has control of his family, the Hashima. They infiltrated the syndicate by using Lafiel’s reputation as a musician and performer to get themselves into the rival House. Exercising every onze of her charm and charisma, Lafiel circulated through the crowd to garner what information she could regarding Zerey’s situation; including planting her linkpearl to the Doman samurai in the meeting room of the syndicate’s boss.

Koh’li, for his own part, was hard-pressed to keep his temper reined in as the drunken cronies of the syndicate boss thought to flirt and make lascivious offers toward Lafiel. As her bodyguard, he took that job rather seriously and didn’t like the subtle threats that were made to her when she kindly rebuffed their advances. They would have to watch their backs in Kugane for as long as they stayed and Koh’li resolved to get Lafiel back to Eorzea and Gridania where she was safer as soon as he could arrange it.

Katja

Back in Gridania after a blowout argument with her best friend, Valeria, over matters concerning her ex-boyfriend, Zerey, Katja saw fit to cease the Seventh Chantry’s support of her mother now that she was back in town for good. Her evening saw her doing the weekly shopping for her mother and her mother’s caretaker, Mathilde, at the Whistling Miller only to run into T’Shira Rihll there who was on business of her own.

Mercurial, as always, Katja vented her frustrations over her situation with her friends in all the wrong ways, taking them out on T’Shira as the only target available. Between Valeria’s snub, her earlier fallout with T’Shira, even R’haya’s lying over her situation, Katja’s feelings were already pushed to their limit, making her doubt just how much she could trust any of her so-called friends. She knew she was in the wrong and inwardly hated herself for it, but her temper got the best of her, as it often does.

In true Katja style, she offloaded a bunch of her repressed feelings, how hurt and betrayed she felt by those she considered her closest friends, her feelings of abandonment going all the way back to her father in her childhood. Her exhaustion, both physical and emotional, at having to play the support role for so many people when she’s still struggling with a lot of things herself.
