[RE] Roleplay Recap: Week 13-15

Roleplay was pretty sparse the last couple of weeks then I had to do a host migration for my blog, so here we are again!

Katja

While still in Gridania, Katja had a chance meeting with T’Shira Rihll, Katja herself was grumping over the Hatching-tide holiday, since it didn’t make sense to her. Something about some crazy lady having weird dreams and suddenly that meant she could throw eggs all over the city and send tonberries to scare people?! Katja was particularly incensed, since one of the celebrants decided it would be a good idea to scare her mother while her caregiver, Mathilde, was taking her out for a walk. It was fortunate for that particular tonberry that Katja wasn’t there to set them on fire, but Mathilde gave them a good whacking with her walking stick, so that made Katja feel a tiny bit better.

As they sat, they discussed recent events with the Vanguard Company. Both of them were worried that their companymates weren’t seeing things clearly concerning the necromancer, Rihad, and that they were taking risks and putting themselves in dangers they might not otherwise out of fear. Fear that Rihad’s spell was terrible and world-ending. Katja wondered why they didn’t just go to the Grand Alliance, find the Warrior of Light, if the situation was that dire. Wasn’t that what the Warrior of Light was for? Not some obscure little band of kinda-sorta wanna-be heroes from the middle of nowhere. The only benefit to that was that most of them seemed to know Rihad, though opinions were decidedly mixed, which raised even more questions for the pair.

Ultimately, T’Shira decided she would go first to visit Valeria Camena, the faithful third in their trio, and the pair of them would confront Vincere Northfield – Gilgamesh for answers. Whether or not Vincere would be forthcoming and whether they’d be answers any of them wanted to hear was anyone’s guess. For her own part, Katja planned to go to Ul’dah where she would begin her needle-in-a-haystack search for some kind of records on Litany. She planned to begin with searching for anything on Rihad then see if she could cross-reference out to some of his old companymates and comrades.

Lafiel

Lafiel, as she often does, had a number of encounters in recent weeks. Several with her steadfast paramour and guardian, Koh’li Nbolo as they continued to travel through Coerthas and Dravania. When the promise of work and patronage called her back to Ul’dah, they begrudgingly returned in order for Lafiel to fulfill her carefully-drawn contracts.

One such meeting was with Sorkhaghtani Kagon Greenclove, a xaela woman that Lafiel had met once before. After discussing their philosophies on truth, Sorkhaghtani shared with Lafiel the sorrowful tale of one Litia, a Garlean mother-turned-soldier that the xaela had grown to cherish and respect. The woman had perished as a hero, saving both Sorkhaghtani and their company as well as the refugees they were escorting to safety. It was a lamentable loss made all the more so by the fact that Litia’s part of it had been completely overlooked. A fact that Lafiel hoped to remedy with her retellings to honor both Litia and Sorkhaghtani’s loyalty to her Garlean friend.

Afterward, Lafiel had an odd and brief encounter with a raen (Satomi Ishikawa – Marlboro) who claimed that some butterflies that were in Lafiel’s vicinity were, in fact, some manner of spirit — or yokai as the woman explained. Perhaps a young kami. Uncertain as to what either of those things were, Lafiel could only nod and agree. Still the entire experience had her looking at askance as these ever-present butterflies from then on.

Later, she was chanced upon by Morgan Parnass, the young hyuran adventurer she’d befriended some moons before. The two of them caught up with one another, the new and different changes in their lives, and passed a few pleasant bells in one another’s company. Morgan eventually asked for the elezen’s advice on relationships and a recent young man she’d taken an interest in. As was her wont to do, Lafiel advised simply following her own heart, anything else, whatever anyone else thought of their relationship was secondary. Upon her departure, Lafiel invited the young hyur out to Forestsong — the home she now shared with Koh’li in the Shroud. An invitation that Morgan giddily accepted.
