Dearest Lady Dressed in Red
Enraptured am I of thy divine form
Inherently thine servant
Forever a prisoner of thy emerald eyes
Obeisance is all I can offer thee
Romance is nigh, vermilion goddess
My hand held out for yours.

The note was written in an unfamiliar hand and the prose was certainly… something. It sounded like some Ishgardian noble wrote it for his unwitting bethrothed. Katja kind of hated it. However, as she squinted at the letters that began each line, her brows furrowed. Was this poem secretly insulting her? Was it calling her deformed?!?

Crumpling the parchment into a ball, she set it a flame, dropped it on the cobblestones and stomped it out, huffing. Her ears flattened to her head. Who would hide such a cruel message in what appeared to be a love poem? Ugh. Some people were such dirtbags!

Scowling to herself, Katja flounced off, leaving the still-smoldering bit of paper behind.

Once Katja was out of sight, D’fhul approached the embers of his poem. Calling up a bit of water magic, he doused the flames well and good so they wouldn’t be a hazard. A soft sigh escaped him. “This is going to be harder than I thought…”
