[RE] Roleplay Recap: Week 2

Katja made it out to the Tap & Gambit Tavern run by her friends within the Vanguard Company. While she’s always glad to see her friends, this week it was all business as she was there to support her friend, T’Shira Rhill in joining up with the band of wayward adventurers.
Lafiel ended up spending a lot of time with friends and new acquaintances this week, but mostly with the Bard, Mesa Kha, whom she finds charismatic and fun. However, even the brightest stars flicker once in a while, so she gave the xaela a good talking to, along with fellow Duskwight, Irene Regine.
Once she’d sent Mesa off to bed, she spent time with the budding new adventurer, Morgan Parnass as well, giving him advice on how best to move past his grief and confliction over events in Werlyt and Garlemald. As he left her, it was with the compliment that if he met any Ishgardians in the future, they’d have a fairly high bar to meet for Lafiel’s kindness and wisdom.
The following day she spent some time with Zerey Zeyad and they spoke of his problems with his Clan back in Kugane, the Hashima Clan. Before they could get too engrossed in it, however, Pau Monteraux arrived with a parcel, requested coeurl whiskers that Lafiel planned to test out as possible instrument strings. Zerey’s family business called him away, so Lafiel and Pau spoke some upon the man’s family. They were Gelmorran-descended Duskwights that refused to move out of their ancestral cavern home, despite the fact that Gelmorra itself was buried long ago.
It was saddening to Lafiel to hear of people so blinded by their clinging to the past that they refused to see a brighter future for themselves. Pau, too, seemed saddened by it, but by his own admission there was no helping them. So, he did the best he could. It was on that note that he departed, leaving Lafiel to ruminate on the unfortunate souls.
She went to the Carline Canopy for a thought-cleansing cup of tea, which is where Zerey found her once again. They spoke further of his troubles with the Hashima and Lafiel felt compelled to offer her help — and by extension, that of Koh’li, her guardian. Zerey refused at first, but then begrudgingly accepted, given that his opponents would likely be hiring every mercenary they could get their hands on. Zerey spoke of his family, his friends, who would also support him in this endeavour — once he told them. The young Doman even dared speak of his future and evade questions about whether or not there was Someone Special in his life.

Of course, no week of Lafiel’s would be complete without time spent with the indomitable presence of her protector, Koh’li Nbolo. The pair of them spoke of their plans for their trip to Doma, including a planned picnic with all the varied Doman cuisines they could find. Afterward, they stopped off at the Goldsmith’s Guild so that Koh’li could present Lafiel with a shiny new linkpearl of her very own, something she’d asked him for some weeks prior. She was delighted that he’d remembered!
Koh’li tried to apologize for his absence, his duty to the Adders having forced him to spend more time away from his charge than he really wanted, but Lafiel understood. After hearing about the trouble they’d had with the Ixali, the intrepid musician even volunteered her services in order to try and soothe the hectic birdmen so that a proper peace could be negotiated. Koh’li reluctantly agreed, but only so long as Lafiel followed his orders to the letter, something that the elezen readily agreed to. She knew she was no fighter and that if a battle ensued her primary means of survival would be with Koh’li.
With things settled between them and plans made, the pair returned to Gridania so that Koh’li might speak with his superiors about bringing in the musician to soothe the savage beastmen…
