[RE] Roleplay Recap: Week 1
Katja went on a madcap adventure in a race across the Thanalan desert called Death Wagons! With her good friend Valeria Camena as her driver, the pair entered the competition on a custom-built ceruleum-powered motorcycle crafted by the clever miqo’te magiteknician, V’hala Helsi. With Katja’s clever use of her elemental powers; setting an oil slick on fire, as well as icing down a tunnel hazard they had to pass through, the pair was able to pull out a last-minute win — with the help of a mishap by Tahlia Underfoot, one of their allies from the Vanguard Company.
Lafiel had a number of encounters this week, a chance-met conversation with one Zerey Zeyad, a grumpy Doman with a secret love of music. Despite the hyur’s surly demeanor, Lafiel was able to coax him out of his shell by mentioning her skill with a fife, which is similar to the Eastern shakuhachi, which Zerey secretly plays.

Her journey also took her back into the Twelvewood with her protector, Koh’li Nbolo, in order to say farewell to his dying mother and deliver the song that Koh’li had requested Lafiel to compose. She played the song for his matron, the very Forest itself empowering the minstrel’s music so that the entire village was able to hear the performance. It was a meaningful moment for both the elezen songstress as well as her gunbreaker defender. They stayed long enough to see Koh’li’s mother buried and for Lafiel to teach the rest of the village to sing the song she wrote for them before leaving the village.

In Ul’dah, Lafiel had a visit with Mesa Kha and the xaela bard shared with her the concept of a World Voice, similar to the bard’s own Soul Voice. She shared the idea that, perhaps, Lafiel’s music was being empowered by the latent energies of the world itself, hence the feeling of the very Forest listening. Lafiel debated that the feeling had only ever come over her in the Twelveswood, but she’d also never sung anything of that power anywhere else. She had the thought to conduct a few experiments in Thanalan and La Noscea before she and Koh’li departed for Doma.
