Life on the First

Born in a village in the foothills of Atlas Peak that was decimated in the Flood and now part of the Empty, Hyzenthlay’s family fled to the Crystarium for safety, like so many like them. She grew up by the light of the Crystal Tower and spent most of her childhood reading every book she could get her hands on in the Cabinet of Curiosity.

While she grew up on stories of the Warriors of Light and the Warrior of Darkness, she wasn’t much of an adventurer herself. She dislikes violence. However, she is an explorer at heart, wanting to learn everything there is to learn about the world around her, its people, its cultures. Oftentimes, that habit has gotten her into no end of trouble.

Like the Ronkan ruins in Rak’Tika Greatwood that she was exploring and cataloguing for the Cabinet, wherein she found a strange artifact that transported her to another star…

Stranger in a Strange Land

Now on the Source, Hyzenthlay finds herself lost and alone. She keeps mostly to herself out of fear, having encountered one kindly hrothgar who warned her of the dangers of the world. Never reveal where she’s from, he told her, and never trust anyone.

She’s made her way thusfar as a librarian’s assistant in the Ossuary, helping them to catalogue their artifacts and books. She hasn’t ventured much outside Ul’dah, save to go on an expedition to some nearby ruins outside of Camp Drybone. Attacked by the imps there, she was saved by one Keltas Rehw-gilda, a blind viera monk with whom she shared an instant connection. Bereft of many friends in this new land, she spends much of her time in the brusque wildling’s company, even if he can be a bit uncouth.

Still, there is a part of her that longs to see the wider world.  Perhaps now, with a protector by her side, she finally can…

Hooks

Resident of the Crystarium
Other First characters that frequented or lived in the Crystarium are welcome to know Hyzenthlay by name or by sight. She would have commonly helped those who came to the Cabinet of Curiosity looking for things if Moren or one of the other librarians were busy.

Archaelogists & Scholars From the First
Hyzenthlay was known for her penchant of wandering and exploring. It’s entirely plausible that she may have encountered other archaeologists and scholars in the field. Or perhaps she helped you on a project for a short time. Contact me OOC if you’d like to know her in this way and we can come up with something!

Frequenters of the Arrzaneth Ossuary
In recent days, the viera can be found in the Ossuary in Ul’dah, where she helps the thaumaturges organize and catalogue their voluminous library of books and artifacts. It’s where she is, more often than not in the city, so if you’d like to encounter her there, don’t hesitate to send me a tell if I’m online!

Echo Bearer
While Hyzenthlay does bear the Echo and the ability to see others’ memories, I only enact this ability by YOUR consent. YOU may send your memory visions to Hyzenthlay via /tell and I’m happy to react to them, but I will never ask or insist that others send me visions.

Please be sure to read and understand my OOC Boundaries as well.
