A Note From The Catte
Just an update from me! My family and I were caught in Hurricane Beryl when it struck the Houston area. Rest assured that we’re fine and our home sustained no major damage. We have a lot of limbs and debris in the yard, one felled tree, but that’s the worst of it. There are plenty of others in our neighborhood and the surrounding area that are much worse off than us.
At present, we’re without mainline power, but we have a gas-powered generator that’s keeping us afloat for the time being. The worst part of everything is the heat; it’s usually between 85-89 inside the house during the day, though it blessedly cools off at night. The heat makes everyone in the house short-tempered and impatient, though, so it’s a lot of stress and bickering that I simply try to avoid.
Rest assured, my fine friends, that I’m as well as I can be in this situation. I’d go to a hotel or somewhere with air conditioning, but my mother-in-law refuses to go and, in good conscience, my spouse and I don’t feel right just leaving her here by herself. If anything happened to her, my spouse would never forgive themself. So, we’re kind of stuck here, because there’s no convincing her for our safety or our health that we should leave until the power comes back on.
